When trying to achieve your plumbing company’s energy-efficient home, we’ve replaced the old water heater to a tankless model. We also replaced our dishwasher with an ENERGY STAR certified model. We replaced all our faucets and showerheads with WaterSense labeled ones. And even though money was no object, most of the products didn’t cost an arm and a leg. In part 2 of your plumbing company’s energy-efficient home, we still have more areas of the house to address. The stage is already set, we’re moving in an old home, with old, outdated appliances and fixtures. We’re free to replace them as we see fit as long as they’re energy-efficient.
ENERGY STAR Guarantees That The Product’s Been Rigorously Tested
The next appliance we need to address is our washing machine. Consumers beware. Just because a washing machine says energy-efficient, don’t believe it. Online companies will say whatever they have to, to drive traffic for whatever they’re selling. An ENERGY STAR certified washer guarantees that the products have been rigorously tested to meet the energy efficiency standards required, without ever giving up on performance. According to the Environmental Protection (EPA), an ENERGY STAR certified clothes washer uses 25% less energy than a standard model. Additionally, it uses 33% less water.
Technology Allows For Excellent Performance While Saving 20%
While we’ve been addressing appliances, it’s time to discuss our favorite fixture – “our toilet.” Everyone’s toilet should now be 1.6 gallons a flush which was made mandatory by law in the early ’90s. Some toilet makers have exceeded expectations, such as American Standard high-efficiency toilets (HETs). They use 1.28 gallon per flush with fewer clogs. The technology allows for excellent performance while saving 20% over the mandatory 1.6 gallons per flush models. Others are following suit; names like Kohler and Toto have all come out with their version of ultra-high-efficiency toilets.

So, your Plumbing Company’s energy-efficient home looks like this:
- High efficient tankless water heater
- Enviro Filtration System – it provides excellent drinking water, preserves your plumbing against hard water, and preserves your water heater storage tank.
- Energy Star certified washing machine – it only costs $35 a year to run, and you’ll save on average 3,870 gallons of water over its lifespan.
- WaterSense labeled faucets and showerheads throughout your home – uses 20% less water than the average showerheads and faucets while still providing equal or superior performance.
- ENERGY STAR certified clothes washer – uses 25% less energy than a standard model and uses 33% less water.
- New ultra-high-efficiency toilets throughout your home – use 1.28 or fewer gallons a flush.
Enjoy your “Plumbing Company’s” high efficiency home.
