It’s time to get to the source of the problem. Stop relying on your plunger once and for all.  Most homeowners agree that the household plunger is one of the best tools in the house. It’s so simple to use, that even a middle-aged child can figure it out. However, if you need to use a plunger constantly, an underlying issue needs to be addressed. Big B’s Plumbing is ready to get to the bottom of the problem.  If you’ve tried all four of these methods below to unclog your toilet, it may be time to call for a professional drain cleaning technician.

Here Are 5 Causes For A Clogging Toilet

If you have to constantly unclog a toilet using a plunger, then there is definitely an underlying issue. Although plunging your toilet is a bandaid solution to a bigger problem, finding the source of the obstruction or the reason it continues to occur is essential. Here are five possibilities for why your toilet continues clogging:

#1 – Is My Toilet Old And OutDated?

If your toilet was manufactured before 1994, then you’re probably dealing with an old water-guzzling 3.5 gallon per flush (GPF) toilet. When we think of technologies, we tend to think in terms of WIFI, laptops, and smartphones. Nevertheless, new technologies have reached new heights, including how your newly designed toilet can flush 1.6 GPF or less. My toilet may be full of hard water deposits, or some old components are no longer working correctly. As a result, there may not be enough force to push through the waste. By upgrading to the latest toilet design, you’ll be meeting the current standards of 1.6 GPF or less. In addition, the newer toilet designs allow for a powerful flush using a fraction of the water while thoroughly cleaning the bowl.

#2 – The Fill Valve Is Known To Break Down

You may be having a problem with your fill valve. After the toilet is flushed, the fill valve (also known as a ballcock) releases water into the tank until the tank is filled. The fill valve opens whenever water escapes the tank (for example, when the flapper leaks). The tank will auto-fill whenever the tank loses water; this will keep the water level at the proper levels. If you’re having problems with the fill valve, it may not provide enough water to flush correctly, causing it to clog. Clogs occur more frequently when your tank is not filled with adequate water.

#3 – An Object In The Pipe Is Common For Causing Clogs

A blocked pipe just beyond the toilet is also a possibility. The flushing of objects that should not get flushed is most likely to blame for these clogs. For example, if a toothbrush, child’s toy, or razor falls into the toilet and is mistakenly flushed, debris can build up around it and eventually clog the toilet.

#4 – It Could Be Tree Roots Or Broken Pipe In My Toilet

Your sewer line might be the culprit. My toilet might get clogged due to a severe sewer line problem in your community. Your sewer line could also get the blame for your clogged drains. The cause may be coming from a broken pipe, tree roots that have crept into the sewer line, or corroded metal pipes. Unfortunately, there is nothing that homeowners can do to prevent such harm. Regular sewage line maintenance and inspections, on the other hand, can assist in identifying minor concerns before they turn into major, costly difficulties.

#5 – Your Vent Could Be Obstructed

Plumbing vent problems are common in older homes. The blockage can occur if your plumbing vent is obstructed or damaged. The plumbing vent helps the pipes maintain optimum pressure by removing gas from the plumbing system. Therefore, my toilet may NOT flush with the necessary force if your plumbing vent is damaged or blocked by debris.
